Last night, my mom and I went through old photos that had been packed away in our garage for years. I love just hearing about each one - about who was in it, where it was taken, what they were doing. My favorites are the ones of her fresh out of high school, and the ones from when she was living with her boyfriend, Gary. I love the feel of the old photos. They are rough with round edges - not glossy.

From left to right: My mom, my mom and her friends on a trip to the Big Island after their senior year of high school, and finally just her three friends. Teenagers look the same throughout the years; that is the main thing I have noticed. It makes me painfully aware that one day, I am going to be old.

"Gary." Tee-hee! I don't know the names of any of my mom's past boyfriends; indeed I am only aware that she ever had one when she lived in Chicago. An Indian guy who worked at the laundromat his family owner. Apparently one night two rednecks came in rather drunk and started to pick a fight, and my mom jumped on one of their backs and clawed at his face as best she could. Of course when the police arrived, no one believed that she, a young woman no taller than 5'2", had assaulted one of the men as he had claimed.

I know what you mean about the old photos! I have an old rough-textured round-edged photo of my parents when they were engaged, which I adapted into an oil painting for class. My mom later told me that it was taken at her bachelorette party, which my dad had crashed with his buddies while drunk.

OH MAN! Your mom is great. That was the greatest mental image that I have had in a while. I always tell myself that, should I ever be in a fight, I would kick much ass - but I seriously doubt I would.

i love looking through everyone's old photos! i wish i were closer to my aunts and uncles so i could nose through theirs, ha!

it's so weird - in some pictures my mom is a drop dead gorgeous hottie and then she went through this.. hippie stage. and.. it was awful. AHAHA. i don't know what happened - i guess she stopped wearing make-up? that can't be the only reason, though. her face shape also looks so different in those pictures. and she apparently took up this hobby of not wearing a bra... oh mother, you're so new age!

Are the first two taken by you? Your mom is so gorgeous. :) Old photographs are always cool, especially with the coloring. I love looking through some my mom's old scrapbooks my grandmother made of her when she was a baby, toddler, kid, ..and a teenager. All the wedding pictures I've seen make me so excited and giddy too, from looking at them. Perspectives seem so different sometimes!

Annnd... hey, question! I was wondering what to do with this, but I haven't any time really work my way around this computer's blocking of email and whatnot. :x Forums, google, and LJ are not blocked. Unfortunately, I don't know any forums that you're on! ...
Anyways! Is there any reason why I was removed as a friend? Just curious because, at first, I was wondering why you wouldn't respond to my comments/questions I would leave, even if I wasn't the last one, you just didn't comment back. I thought it was sort of odd. Then when I went to see if we were even still mutual, we weren't! Haha. Did I do anything to offend you at any point? Sorry, if that's so! Was just trying to clear it up. Didn't know what happened.. :x

ahaha, no, i think my mom took the first two! they were part of her photograph stash that we were going through! my mom didn't have too many wedding pictures, and that bummed me out. i think wedding photos would have been the best!

AND NO, SORRY. ;3; there was no real reason that i took you off - i think you weren't updating for a while (if you were on vacation/hiatus and i didn't check, i'm so sorry!) so i wasn't sure if you were still on LJ. and i must have missed your comment, too, because my e-mail hasn't been sending me all of my comment notifications, and sometimes when they do, it's really late! guh! i apologize! D:::
